Switzerland Suprises {Part 4 - the end}

So much for the blogging every day.. but I am happy to report this is the last installment of the great Swiss adventure!

OK, so last day on the mountain.. all packed up and headed back to the top for a "007 breakfast"
We treated ourselves to breakfast at the revolving restaurant atop Schiltorn. It was a GORGEOUS morning and the views were incredible. A great "last hurrah"..
We made a purchase for a certain boy :)

So we packed up and started driving to Lucerne.. one last shot I'd been wanting to get in Lauterbaunnen..

We then drove past Lake Thun.. (are you kidding me??!)
and decided to stop in Lucerne for lunch and little sightseeing before heading home to Brussels..
If you go, you have to see the medieval Chapel Bridge and Water tower. The paintings inside are incredible.. And of course we had to have FONDUE! :) (I have to admit, we were DONE with cheese after 4 days.. yes, we love cheese, but it really is the mainstay of all swiss dishes so after 4 days, we were ready for some salad :)

One last top.. the Lion Momument which commemorates the Swiss Guard that were massacred during the French Revolution. It really is one of the most moving momuments I've seen and if you're in the area, make the extra effort to go so it.

As you can see, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves this trip and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who will listen! :)
Thanks for looking and make sure and check back for new adventures coming to the blog soon!

Switzerland Surprises {Part 3}

well helloooo there. Have you fallen off your seat because I've actually blogged for the 2nd day in a row!? Well get back up and enjoy day 3 of our Swiss adventure. This day was filled with hikes, waterfalls and more fun with friends.

we started the hike here. Talk about a playground with a view!?and then we were off!

After our hike we visited Trummelbach Falls, which are Europes largest underground waterfall. It was powerful, impressive and a nice wet break after our hike!
We ended the night having dinner at our lodge and letting the kids run amuck in our village. A perfect end to a very adventurous day! Check back for day 4 tomorrow and thanks for looking :)

Switzerland Surprises {Part 2}

I hope your holidays were full of family, warmth, love and adventure. Ours certainly was as we traveled to the States for 3 weeks (which MIGHT explain my blogging hiatus), stocking up on lots of hugs, good food, and fun times with family and friends.

Can you guess what my New Years Resolution is?? To actually blog the rest of 2013 before the end of 2014!? Bonus points if I do it before , say, March 1. Good goal don't you think? We actually have a little break in travel for the next couple of months as we "hunker down" for the dark, cool months and devote most weekends to kids' activities.. so I should be able to catch up on blogging and plan our travels for spring and hopefully early summer.

So without further ado.. let's put a dent in Switzerland already!? :)

Day 2 included a visit to Mt. Schilthorn, which is one of the highest peaks in Switzerland, but even better, it has an incredible view of the big 3: Junfrau, Monch and Eiger. It also was the location for the 1967 Bond movie, "On Her Magesty's Secret Service", so that was an extra dose of fun at the top. We then took a cable car down one stop and hiked the rest of the way down back to our village. What an amazing day with friends!!

So let me tell you a story about these boiled eggs:
There were several "honor system" stores around the village we stayed in. You could get fresh cheese, milk, eggs, even a few souveniers just by leaving your money in the envelope. A couple places were actually someone's back door and we went in the fridge to buy some cheese for a snack. How fun is that!? Another reason that we loved Grimmelwald!
Ok.. maybe I'll get on a roll, so make sure and check back tomorrow! ;)
